Cyber Monday and Making Choices

You can find my TpT products on sale this Monday and Tuesday.  Don't forget to use the code CMT12 for extra savings!

I have finally updated my choice bins for literacy.  You can find my Daily 5 bin labels here. This past week the children explored our Work on Writing and Word Work Games bins.  They were a hit!

I love this choice board!  Research and Word Work Games are certainly the favourites so far.  Here are the kids at work with Word Work Trouble (practicing punctuation skills with You've Been "Punct!) and Research (completing datapillars with these great Lakeshore research cards I've had for years).

You can find my research paper chains here.

I added 5 whole class journals to my Work on Writing literacy bin.  Here's how they turned out:

DIY Word Work Games

I tried out my Password Trouble with a few of my students today.  They loved it!  I can't wait to share it with my whole class this week!  I have 2 Trouble gameboards, so almost half the class can play the game at once.  You can find my Word Work Games here.  Let the games begin!

I found the gameboard for $2.99 at a local Value Village!
Copy the gameboard onto colourful cardstock with cards to match.
You can colour code a variety of Word Work Games through the year.
This game can be found in my package:

More Word Work Games!

I have one more consonant digraph to introduce this week, and then we can play these games!  I'm so excited to share them with my kids.  First off, I'm a fan of making old school new school!  So I took three games from when I was a kid: checkers, trouble and password.  I added some spelling patterns we had been learning about: consonant digraphs.  And voila!  New Word Work games for small groups and partners.

reading cootie catchers

I can't wait to print these cootie catchers and add them to my kids' book bins!  We just read: Flat Stanley's Worldwide Adventures 3 - The Japanese Ninja Surprise.  So when I found the cute ninjas and put it with these origami cootie catchers it was a perfect match!
We are currently gearing up for reading buddies with one of the Kindergarten classes.  The kids have been practicing their Read to Someone skills including what to do when they come across a word they don't know.  Next we will Read to Someone with their peers.  I think the kids will love the Check for Understanding cootie catcher.  I added a bookmark to add to reading notebooks as well.  Check it out:
